Beneficio RyS

First Export Samples

My last stop before leaving Tarrazu and returning to Germany was at Beneficio RyS run by the brothers Robles. There I met Leonardo Robles who had prepared for me some samples of the new harvest, the earliest samples ready for packing for export. The clip

Catuai Beans

shows beans of the same lot coming out of the mechanical sorter. This year rain has been a major problem not only because of the wet but because of the lack of sunshine. Normally the cherries would have been dried only on raised beds and patios but this year mechanical dryers were used when needed. The total drying time was around 30 days.  While talking about this, we were joined by Leonardo’s charming daughter Naza who speaks excellent English which made the conversation much more fluent.  I am looking forward presenting the beans to roasters in Germany.
